Starrville Cemetery Association

HISTORY & Purpose

The Starrville Cemetery, Smith County, Texas is designated as an historical cemetery by the Texas Historical Commission. The Starrville Cemetery probably started around 1853, with the earliest marked grave dated March 1855. Today, there are over 500 marked graves in the cemetery and a great number of unmarked and unidentified graves.

Generations of our families have been laid to rest at Starrville Cemetery and we visit to pay respects to ancestors, place flags for veterans, and remember the loved ones gone before us. Starrville Cemetery Association (Starrville Cemetery Foundation, Inc.) was formed in 1977 as a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide for the upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery for future generations.

We appreciate your interest in the cemetery and hope you will consider showing your support by joining our mailing list and making a donation today

Guidance on Site Navigation and Parking

Navigating STARRVILLE CEMETERY Respectfully

Keep ALL vehicles to the driveway and circle!
Do not park in the southern part of the cemetery to the right of the driveway. There are now many burials in this area, but they are not all marked.

Gravesite areas should only be trafficked on foot to avoid damaging graves, stones, and terrain. This rule applies to absolutely all cemetery visitors! Designated gravesite areas are not safe for motor vehicles. Remember, many graves in Starrville Cemetery are unmarked, or markers are not easily seen, and new graves are occupied each year.
